"Hungarian" T-shirt
I've no great skill when it comes to dressmaking, but I've used this t-shirt pattern several times. I cheat and finish the neck with bias binding instead of facings and fastenings! This time I used some denim-like fabric which isn't too stretchy, and cut the front hem at an angle. The embroidery was done before I assembled the t-shirt, and I chose designs which were as close as I could find to traditional Hungarian designs to reflect my heritage! The two centre design were from Sweet Sensations Jacobean Delights collection and sewed out smoothly, with the simple, even stitching I was looking for. The hems were done with one of my machine's built-in stiches, using variegated thread.

Christmas Fleece
I saw a picture of a child's Christmas fleece in a sewing book, and knew I had to make myself one! The pattern was adapted from a simple dress pattern, and the pointed hem I made up as I went along, making the tassels out of scraps of brightly coloured fleece. This section was lined with contrasting fleece (purple, what else?!). The Christmas pudding design hides a little secret - behind it, the lining is slit, so I can slip a musical button inside (and remove it for washing). Three of the designs were by Randi Kemper at Adorable Affordable Designs, the pudding was by Hatched in Africa.

Fleece Fur Jacket
It's a fatal mistake for me to go near a fabric store, because I'll always spot something I can't resist, and find myself doing something I don't enjoy - making clothes!!! This fleece is as easy to sew and wash as ordinary fleece, but it is a fur texture. The pictures don't do justice to the colour (a sort of deep burgundy and black) or the texture. I didn't want to over do it, so just put a simple Art Nouveau design of rosebuds on it.

The pattern itself was a free one from an old magazine, but, despite having darts, shaped seams and facings, it was quite easy to make and came up just as I'd wanted.
