Wolf Track Scene
As soon as I saw this design at Embroidery Library, I knew I HAD to do it! The big problem was
the size - altogether it is 6.3" x 7.8" and over 48,000 stitches. My machine only has a 4" x 4"
embroidery area, so the design would have to be done in 5 separate parts. My first attempt was a total disaster,
and I ended up ruining a lovely denim jacket, but I don't give up that easily. I asked for help and advice from
a couple of sewing lists on the internet, bought some fabric and tried again.
This time, thanks to my new-found knowledge, I was successful, but these pictures don't really do it justice. The
fabric is denim with a slight sparkle, and the stitching is excellent quality, if a little stiff.
Now all I've got to do is make something to show it off. Have I ever mentioned that I hate dressmaking?! Funny
how often I end up doing it. |
Wolf Track Waistcoat
| Well, I've finally done it! A simple lined waistcoat, lined, without anything fancy
- it doesn't need extra trimmings, after all, with a design like that on the back! I added a couple of other Embroidery Library designs on to the front panels - wolf eyes and some paw prints. If you think the design on the
back is a bit low, that's because I've got long hair, and I didn't want my hair to cover up the embroidery! |
Greetings Cards
| For special occasions, I try to make personalised greeting cards. The designs on
these cards are from a variety of free downloads and purchased designs. Much of the text has been done using the
Embird program.
As far as I can remember, the lavender and rose design is by Birdhouse Cottage Crafts, the birthday design on purple fabric
from Elsa's Designs,
the daffodil and narcissus baskets from Sew
Terific, the champagne cork from Needlepassion Embroidery, valentine coffee from Art-Sew-Perfect, Bootlicious (what better design to use to welcome
the baby of a fellow shoeaholic?) by Sew Snazzee, chicks and dog bowl by Fancy
That Designs, the hatching chick from Balboa Threadworks, the harvest barrow from StitchPetit, the spring pussy willow design
(seen here in two diffent colour ways) is by Stichitize, and the 50th anniversary design adapted from one
by Little Brown Jug. The country flowers is one of the nicest designs I've ever sewn out. It's by Sue Box and has so much texture, the flowers seem to move out
from the fabric. Almost no jump stitches either! |
