The Partridge Family
Part One
On June 29 2000, my husband Jim and son Tom took the dog for a late evening walk,
and found six baby partridges, whose mother had been killed protecting them from a mowing machine.
As you can see from this picture, they were in very poor shape and looked unlikely to survive the night
However, we did all we could for them, and on the advice of a neighbour who keeps
chickens, warmed them up with a hot water bottle under towels in a box, and kept them near our Aga cooker, then
provided them with water and cereal to eat.
Before long, they were looking much better!
This was one of them just 24 hours after his near-death experience!
All are active, noisy and able to drink and peck for themselves.
